Set along a forgotten dirt road in rural Alabama, the story follows 63 year old Brandon, searching for his long-lost love. He comes across Russell, a charming, but manipulative 37 year old vampire. Russell offers to find his love in exchange for Brandon’s blood, pulling Brandon into a horrific journey through 1930’s Ohio, the Blitz in London, and a film noir segment in 1950’s New York City.
At its core “The Vampire Russell” is about regret, aging, and what we’re willing to sacrifice for one last chance meeting. While the vampire element is central, the true horror lies in the emotional bargain the protagonist makes – and the irreversible consequences of that choice, with haunting, atmospheric settings.
Tonally, it blends existential dread with slow-burn suspense, favoring character over spectacle. It’s written with a strong lead pair, designed to attract actor-driven financing and festival positioning.
